BIO
Leslie Estrada Trevizo is a multi-media artist based in the DFW area. She attended Weatherford College and is currently pursuing her education at the University of North Texas, where she is further advancing her studies in psychology and art. Her paintings and drawings explore themes of femininity, identity, and the transitions of growing up, often drawing inspiration from the vibrant worlds of children’s book illustrators such as Lisa Frank and Raina Telgemeier.
Working across a wide range of media—including acrylics, oils, colored pencils, graphite, and digital platforms—Leslie brings a playful yet thoughtful perspective to her work. Her expressionist style reflects both the emotional intensity of personal experience and the imaginative energy of childhood storytelling. She continues to develop her artistic voice while merging her background in psychology with her creative practice, offering viewers a colorful and introspective look into the complexities of growth and self-discovery.
Artist Statement
The inspiration for my art stems from my personal experiences, the lives of the women around me, and the lessons I continue to draw from my psychology studies. My work is a reflection of how layered and multifaceted women’s stories can be. I often allow myself to spend weeks, sometimes months, on a single piece, letting it unfold slowly until it carries the weight of both vulnerability and strength. Through my paintings, I create colorful, dreamlike worlds where things don’t behave as they should—where reality bends just enough to feel both strange and familiar. This distortion is intentional; it invites the viewer to step into an imagined space that is at once safe, unsettling, and deeply human. In that space, I hope to spark a sense of connection with the subject, encouraging reflection on resilience, identity, and the inner landscapes we often keep hidden.
