Acrylic, Screen Printing
BIO
I am a self-taught artist. I work with acrylic and silk screen. For my large pieces, I use a process that I have made to look like silk screen. My process is to paint the substrate and then put the black layer on that paint.
I grew up in Texas and Florida. I am 62 years old at this time. I have been a lawyer since graduating law school in 1993. I have been a criminal defense/human rights attorney. I did death penalty litigation for 25 years. As a trial lawyer, I developed a keen interest in the power of images. I was an early-adopter of the image-to-convey-a-concept that is so popular today. My exploration of conveying concepts with images led to my art.
Artist Statement
Photography has also been an essential foundation for my art. I have been into photography since I was 13 years old. It was my foray into experimental photography (infrared and HDR) that let to my actually producing the art that I create today.
I have always featured a lot of animals in my art. I have always felt a strong connection to animals. They are great for conveying the often ironic stories I like to convey. A goldfish in front of a bank of microphones. Three colorful wolves clearly out of their element. A lonely horse at a party. I want them to evoke a feeling.
